  • In Siena, the favorable historical conjuncture begins the mid-thirteenth century and ends abruptly with the plague in 1348. In this chronological period the artistic production is amazing both for quality and quantity

  • Crossing the threshold of the Palazzo Pubblico and the Pinacoteca Nazionale will allow you to explore a world apart. Learn the  medieval painting techniques. Discover the most original iconographic subjects 

  • The Palazzo Pubblico is the temple of mural painting and of secular and political subjects.  

  • The Pinacoteca Nazionale boasts the largest existing collection of Sienese gilded paintings. The infinite variations of gold and tempera on wood have rightly decreed the fame of Sienese art as elegant and refined. Line and color make up the texture of such beauty. Only in this collection you can see all the masters of the Sienese school of the fourteenth century
